January Students of the Month Ashlee Hardin & Amy Gaona By Robert JENSEN January 22, 2012 BLYTHE, Calif – At the last School Board* meeting, presentations were made to Elementary and Secondary School students of the month: Ashlee Hardin and Amy Gaona. Ashlee Hardin: Elementary Student of the Month
When not in school, Ashlee enjoys singing, drawing, and listening to music. Her favorite sport is football. She attends St. Joan of Arc church and participates in the choir. Her goal is to be a doctor, as she likes to help others. Ashlee was introduced to the Board of Trustees by Margaret White Principal Josie Koivisto. Amy Gaona: Secondary Student of the Month
Amy has challenged herself continually throughout high school by completing her required A-G courses as well as taking the challenge to excel in honors and Advanced Placement classes. Amy’s time and effort spent on her studies is quickly paying off. To date, Amy has been accepted to California State University Fullerton and, I am quite certain, she will be receiving acceptances to many more universities. Amy plans to continue her education as a Biology major to prepare herself for entrance to medical school where she plans to specialize in pediatrics. She is organized, focused, determined and self-motivated. I have no doubt that Amy will be successful in her future plans and become one of the shining stars of alumni produced by Palo Verde Valley High School. Amy Gaona is the 17 year old daughter of Elizabeth Gonzalez. She is currently a Senior at Palo Verde Valley High School where she is actively involved with a multitude of activities including National Honor Society, California Scholarship Federation, Interact Club, AVID and ASB. Amy was presented to the board by AVID instructor Brandy Cox The writers and staff of The Desert Independent extend their congratulations to these students. *The School Board meeting refers to the Palo Verde Unified School District (PVUSD) Board of Trustees meeting.
