“Zero Tolerance” Enforcement of Distracted Driving Violations Planned March 24, 2012 BLYTHE, Calif – April 2012 is the National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has identified texting and cellular telephone use as the fastest growing and most visible distraction as an associated factor in collisions. The Blythe Police Department has partnered with the Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in an attempt to lower deaths and injuries caused by inattentive drivers. California’s campaign uses the slogan, “It’s Not Worth It,” to convey that no text, phone call, or other distraction is worth a collision, injury, or death. On April 3rd and 18th Blythe Police will be out in force conducting a “zero tolerance” enforcement of distracted driving violations. Don’t be a statistic. Please obey the rules of the road and be safe.
