Arrest for Assault with a Deadly Weapon

JOSHUA TREE, Calif – On Tuesday, June 5, at approximately 9:28 PM, Fred Johnson (age 49 of Joshua Tree) threatened to kill the victim, a 43 year old resident of Joshua Tree during a dispute. The altercation took place near Valley View Street and Begonia Place.

Johnson used a weapon to strike the victim, multiple times, causing injuries. However, during the fight, the victim was able to gain control of the weapon, and strike Johnson in the head, causing a skull fracture. Johnson was arrested at the scene by San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies and transported to High Desert Medical Center for treatment. Johnson was later booked at West Valley Detention Center, for assault with a deadly weapon, and criminal threats.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
