Arrest for Sale of Heroin

NEEDLES, Calif – On Monday, October 10, at 8:34 p.m., a probation check was conducted by San Bernardino County Sheriff - Colorado River Station Deputies at 1900 Race Street. While conducting the check, an unknown male approached the location, not knowing deputies were present. When deputies attempted to contact him, he fled leading the deputies on a foot pursuit.

Deputies caught up with him after a short chase and placed him under arrest. He was identified as Anthony Vargas age 25 of Needles.

Vargas was found to be in possession of one syringe containing heroin, a container with heroin, a small baggie with heroin and multiple empty baggies intended for packaging heroin. He was also in possession of multiple baggies with unknown white pills. Vargas was found to have a felony arrest warrant.

Vargas sustained no injuries from the incident and is being held in custody at the High Desert Detention Center for possession of heroin for sales.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
