Death of Child Investigated by Sheriff as Child Abuse

BLYTHE, Calif – On Tuesday, February 23, at about 7:16 in the morning, Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies assigned to the Blythe Station were dispatched to the Palo Verde Hospital in Blythe, regarding a possible child abuse investigation. Deputies arrived and were later informed that the 6-month-old child had died after medical intervention had failed.

Investigators from the Blythe Station and the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded to the location and assumed the investigation. The name of the child is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin. No arrests have been made and due to the ongoing status of the investigation, no further information will be released at this time.
