Life Jacket Trade in Day

Saturday, May 21 from 8:00 a.m. to Noon


NEEDLES, Calif – The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Colorado River Station will participate in the "Life Jacket Trade in Day Event" partnering with Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW).

This year, DBW continues to partner with more than 50 life jacket trade-in events across the state beginning on May 21, as a part of National Life Jacket Trade-In Day, with trade-in events throughout the summer. California boaters are encouraged to bring their old life jacket and trade it in for a new one, free. Event locations and times by county can be found on the DBW Website by clicking HERE.

Life jacket trade-in partners include aquatic centers, the Drowning Accident Rescue Team, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Coast Guard, US Coast Guard Auxiliary, U.S. Power Squadrons, and local law enforcement agencies.

Personnel from the Colorado River Station will be at the below locations on Saturday, May 21 from 8:00 a.m. to Noon.

When choosing the right life jacket, DBW reminds water enthusiasts that their life jackets must always be:

  • Coast Guard-approved

  • The proper size

  • Approved for the intended boating activity

  • In good condition
