Man Runs Amuck Breaking Windows

29 PALMS, Calif – On Friday, June 24 at 9:09 PM, Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff - Morongo Station responded to multiple reports of a black male adult running up to several houses, pounding on windows and causing them to break, around the area of Mimosa and Sun Valley.

When deputies caught up with the man he appeared to be altered on an unknown substance. Deputies detained him and identified him as Jason Warren (age 37 of Riverside). Deputies located pepper spray in Warren's pockets. Warren is a convicted felon and not allowed to possess pepper spray.

An additional male was contacted after deputies learned he followed Warren around as he ran from house to house. He was identified as Michael Crowder (age 30 of Riverside). A records check revealed him to be on active parole for a home invasion robbery. During a parole search, deputies located methamphetamine in his pocket.

Further investigation revealed both men were in 29 Palms visiting Warren's girlfriend. She was contacted at her nearby residence and confirmed she made arrangements for both males to come to 29 Palms. Deputies also learned Warren brought a loaded Luger 9mm handgun to her house.

Warren was arrested for multiple counts of vandalism, felon in possession of pepper spray, felon in possession of a firearm and booked into the Morongo Jail. Warren is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. Crowder was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and later cite released.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
