Possession of a Military Grade Smoke Grenade

TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif – On Sunday, June 5 at 2:30 a.m., deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff - Morongo Basin Station investigated an assault with deadly weapon report. During the investigation, James Baele was identified as the suspect, and was contacted during a traffic stop.

Baele was found to be in possession of a military grade smoke grenade, in violation of PC 453. He was arrested and booked at the Morongo Jail. James Baele (age 40 of Twentynine Palms) is currently free on $25,000 dollars bail.

Anyone with information regarding the investigation of this crime is encouraged to contact the Morongo Basin Station at 760-366-4175.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
