August 12, 2016

JOSHUA TREE, Calif – On Tuesday, August 9, at approximately 7:24 p.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff - Morongo Basin Station deputies responded to the 6900 block of Hill View road after receiving a report of a 4-year-old child crying and being left home alone. On arrival, deputies found the girl outside the house with a friend of the mothers.

About 15 minutes later the child’s mother arrived home and told deputies she had gone to Wal-Mart and had arranged for Jamichael Bowie and William Catlett to watch her daughter while she shopped. Bowie and Catlett arrived a short while later. They both blamed each other for leaving the child. They both claimed they left first and asked the other to watch the child.

The child was scared but uninjured.

Jamichael Bowie (age 26) and William Catlett (age 47) both of Joshua Tree, were arrested for violation of Penal Code 273(A)a, Felony Child Endangerment and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
