Stolen Car Located – Driver Arrested

29 PALMS, Calif – On Saturday, June 25 at 9:09 PM, Deputy Armando Cantu from the San Bernardino County Sheriff - Morongo Basin Station contacted a woman in Yucca Valley about her vehicle being stolen. She had reported that a Mark Jones stole her vehicle while she showered.

On Sunday, June 26, at approximately 2:48 AM, Deputy Gerardo Jimenez saw the vehicle at 4561 Adobe Road. The vehicle was occupied by a male that matched Jones' description. Mark Jones started to drive away and stopped when Jimenez activated his emergency lights. Jones was detained without incident and also found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

Mark Jones (age 49 of 29 Palms) was arrested and booked into the Morongo Jail for violation of CVC 10851 and is being held on $50,000 bail.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
