Traffic Stop Results in Drug Arrests

NEEDLES, Calif – On Saturday August 20, at approximately 5:07 PM, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff - Colorado River Station / Needles Police Department conducted a traffic enforcement stop at the intersection of Bazoobuth and Palm Way. During the stop deputies discovered the passenger, Bradley Underwood, was on felony probation. The driver, Edward Johanknecht and Underwood, were detained for further investigation.

During a search of Johanknecht's vehicle, two plastic containers of suspected methamphetamines weighing approximately 12grams was located in Johanknecht's back pack, along with a scale and $283.00 in cash.

Upon conclusion of the investigation, it was determined Johanknecht was suspected of selling narcotics. Johanknecht (age 43 of Needles) was subsequently arrested for possession of a controlled substance and booked into the Needles Jail. His bail was set at $100,000. Underwood (age 29 of Needles) was booked for a probation violation and has no bail.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
