Arrest for meth for sales and check fraud

JOSHUA TREE, Calif – On Sunday, August 27 at about 11:05 a.m., the deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff and the Yucca Valley Multiple Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at the 6500 block of Sunset Road in Joshua Tree. During the search of the residence, deputies located methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, fraud checks, blank checks and mail not belonging to the home owners.

Rene Villegas (age 32) who lives at the location with his girlfriend, were contacted inside the residence during the search warrant. Villegas was arrested for possession of methamphetamine for sales and possession of fraudulent checks. He was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Problem Oriented Policing is a specialized position within the Town of Yucca Valley’s Police Department. Deputy Sheriff Efrain Herrera and Raman Singh are currently assigned to this full-time position. The primary focus of “Problem Oriented Policing” is to provide solutions to law enforcement related issues that adversely affect the citizens who live, work and visit the Morongo Basin area.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
