Arrest for possession of illegal assault weapon and high capacity magazines

NEEDLES, Calif – On Thursday, April 27, at 10:27 a.m., deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff - Colorado River Station served an arrest warrant in the 1300 Block of Cherry Ave., Needles. Upon arrival, deputies contacted James Day (age 23 of Needles) at the residence and a records check revealed that Day had an active warrant for his arrest.

Through the course of the investigation, deputies located an assault type firearm and two 20 round magazines loaded with ammunition. The assault weapon and magazines are illegal to possess in the state of California.

Day was booked into the Colorado River Station-Needles jail for felony charges of Possession of Assault Weapon and Possession of High Capacity Magazines. His bail was set at $75,000.
