Assailant jailed after assault with a metal pole

NEEDLES, Calif – On Tuesday, June 13 at about 6:14 in the morning, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff - Colorado River Station/ Needles Police Department responded to a home in the 1900 block of Desoto Street in Needles after a report of a man who had been beaten with a metal pole and sustained a broken leg.
A suspect was identified as Francisco Garcia (age 40 of Needles) who had since fled the area on foot.
On Thursday, June 15, Garcia was located in an abandoned house in the 200 block of Bazabooth Street in Needles and taken into custody. Garcia was transported to the Needles Police Station, where he was interviewed and booked into the Needles Jail for assault with a deadly weapon. His bail was set at $50,000.
Garcia is currently on formal felony probation for False Imprisonment.
