Boating accident on Lake Havasu
August 25, 2017
LAKE HAVASU, Calif – On Tuesday, August 22 at about 2:35 in the afternoon, deputies from the Colorado River Station - Marine Enforcement Unit responded to a single boat accident on Lake Havasu.
The accident involved a 2017 21-foot Nordic carbon ski boat operated by Guy Williamson (age 50 of Queensland, Australia).
The boat was travelling at approximately 30 miles per hour in the area of Chalk Cliffs when it began to make a left turn. During the turning movement Williamson felt a vibration coming from the rear of the boat. The boat began to roll during the turn, causing Williamson and the passenger, Travis Barron (age 44 of Lake Havasu City, Arizona), to be ejected.
Williamson and Barron did not suffer any injuries from the collision and refused medical treatment. The boat began to sink as a result of the accident. Sea Tow assisted with the recovery of the boat.
