Collision at Hobsonway and Commercial
February 25, 2017
BLYTHE, Calif – On Thursday, February 23 at 1:31 p.m., the Blythe Police Department received a 911 call reporting a traffic collision at the intersection of Hobsonway and Commercial Street. Blythe Police, along with the Blythe Fire Department and Blythe Ambulance were dispatched to the call.
Arriving Officers found a gray Chrysler 200 had collided with a burgundy GMC Sierra. The gray Chrysler sustained major front end damage and was later towed from the scene. The GMC Sierra sustained moderate rear end damage but was still drivable.
A female passenger in the GMC, who was properly restrained, was transported to the Palo Verde Hospital with a complaint of back and neck pain.
While the investigation is ongoing it appears that the GMC was traveling eastbound in the 400 Block of west Hobsonway when it slowed to a stop to yield for approaching emergency vehicle traffic. The Chrysler was also traveling eastbound on west Hobsonway and following the GMC. The Chrysler was not able to safely yield to approaching emergency vehicles and collided into the rear end of the GMC causing the injury accident. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in this collision.
Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
