Fatality in Fire Ruled Homicide

IMPERIAL, Calif – The Imperial County Fire Department received an early morning call Tuesday, January 17, of a structure fire at 312 Chisholm Trail in the City of Imperial. This was a single family home that had one person in the home at the time of the fire.

Once the fire was extinguished further investigation by multiple public safety and law enforcement agencies determined that the sole occupant, in the home at the time of the incident, died as a result of foul play. The Imperial County Coroner’s Office has confirmed cause of death and the incident has been ruled a homicide. The identity of the victim will remain confidential until next of kin have been notified by the Coroner’s Office.

Imperial Police Chief Colon requests “Anyone that has any information please contact the Imperial Police Department at (760) 355-1158. All calls will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.”

The incident is currently under investigation by the Imperial Police Department.
