Memorial Day weekend boating enforcement results in 11 arrests

NEEDLES, Calif – The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department - Colorado River Station Marine Enforcement Unit conducted its 2017 Memorial Day Weekend Operation, starting on May 26, 2017 through May 29, 2017. The operation was conducted along the Colorado River from the California/Nevada state line to the Riverside County line.

The majority of the operation was focused on the waterways along with resorts, launch ramps and marinas along the river and lake. A total of ten patrol vessels, one Rescue Dive Team, one Gang Enforcement Team, an OHV team and one Sheriff's Department helicopter team were deployed throughout the area.

There were a total of eleven arrests made, seven of which were for Boating Under the Influence. In addition 103 citations were issued for various boating law violations.

The Colorado River Station Marine Enforcement Unit is dedicated to providing a safe boating atmosphere for the public and urges everyone to boat sober and wear their life jackets.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
