Midnight traffic stop results in three arrests

NEEDLES, Calif – On Sunday, August 6 just before midnight, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff - Colorado River station contacted Shayleen Coon (age 43 of Searchlight, Nevada), Trenton Mick (age 26) and Truman Pointer (age 41) both of Bullhead City, during a traffic stop on Needles Highway near Broadway.

During the investigation, Ms. Coon was found to be in possession of over 70 grams of suspected heroin, 40 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, miscellaneous drug paraphernalia and over $2000 in cash. Mr. Mick was found in possession of a loaded firearm. It was later discovered that Mick was prohibited from possessing a firearm due to prior felony convictions. Truman Pointer was found to be in possession of hypodermic syringes.

The driver, Shayleen Coon, was arrested for transportation of a controlled substance. Her bail was set at $50,000. The passenger, Trenton Mick was arrested for transportation of a controlled substance and for being a felon in possession of a loaded firearm. His bail was set at $50,000. The additional passenger, Truman Pointer was cited for being in possession of drug paraphernalia and released from custody.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
