Mobile home fire results in murder investigation of girlfriend

March 20, 2017

THERMAL, Calif – On Saturday, March 18 at 11:41 a. m., deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff - Thermal Station responded to the 83500 block of Avenue 60 in Thermal, for a report of arson to a structure. When deputies arrived they found a mobile home fully engulfed in flames. Occupants of the home were not located on the property and information obtained from witnesses indicated that a domestic violence incident may have occurred between an adult female resident and her boyfriend before the home was set on fire.

At 12:45 p.m., deputies located the female’s boyfriend, Christian Pacheco (age 22  of Indio) in the 51700 block of Calle Torres Orduno in Coachella and detained him.

Thermal Station investigators and the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. At 5:20 p.m., investigators located the female, deceased, in the area of 63700 Monroe Street in Thermal.

Christian Pacheco was then arrested and booked on investigation of murder. The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to telephone Investigator Butvidas of the Sheriff’s Thermal Station at (760) 836-3215, or Investigator Dickey of the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit at (951) 955-2777.
