Residential Burglary and Felon in Possession of a Firearm

TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif – On Tuesday, January 24 at about 3:30 p.m., San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residential burglary in the 5900 block of Aztec Avenue in Twentynine Palms. A deputy investigated the case and learned that a firearm was stolen during the burglary.
Through investigation, the deputy identified Jake Kennedy (age 24 of Twentynine Palms) as a possible suspect in the burglary and later made contact with him at the Tortoise Rock Casino in Twentynine Palms. Kennedy led Deputy Tollefson to where the firearm was located and it was recovered.
Kennedy was arrested for Penal Code 459 – Residential burglary; and a records check revealed Kennedy had previously been convicted of a felony and he was also arrested for PC 29800(a)(1) – Felon in possession of a firearm. Kennedy was transported to the Morongo Basin Jail and booked on the charges in lieu of $150,000 bail.
Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
