Submissions Due by January 23

INDIO, Calif – The search is on for Riverside County’s top young bands, to be featured in the seventh annual Battle of the Bands competition at the 2017 Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival. Bands made up of Riverside County residents, ages 26 or younger, have until Jan. 23 to submit their applications.

Seven bands will be chosen to perform from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, on the Magic Carpet Stage at the Riverside County Fairgrounds.

The Fourth District Youth Advisory Council will review all applications, which must include a demo CD, stage plot, lyrics for all the songs they will play (at least one cover song) and a photo of the band.

On competition day, contestants will be evaluated on technical performance, originality of songs, professionalism, stage presence, vocals and audience reaction. The winning band will take home $5,000 worth of music equipment sponsored by Music Depot LA, and the second- and third-place finishers will receive trophies.

To apply, download the application at www.datefest.org (under “What’s New”). Send the completed application and materials to:
