Sheriff's Unit Involved in a Traffic Collision

JOSHUA TREE, Calif – On Tuesday, January 24, at about 8:30 pm, a deputy from the San Bernardino County Sheriff - Morongo Basin Station was traveling south on Border Ave in his marked 2016 Sheriff’s Patrol Chevy Tahoe approaching Golden Ave. Rickie Vigallon (age 61 of Joshua Tree) was traveling east on Golden Ave in his 2009 Honda CRV approaching Border Ave and was the sole occupant of his vehicle.

Vigallon continued east through the intersection of Border Ave as Deputy Campos continued south into the intersection. Deputy Campos collided into the driver’s side rear quarter panel and rear bumper area of Vigallon’s vehicle. Neither driver was injured in the collision and both vehicles were able to be driven away.

The Morongo Basin California Highway Patrol responded and is conducting the investigation.
