Suspicious fire on Yucca Ave, Twentynine Palms

TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif – On May 24 at about 8:24 p.m., deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff - Morongo Basin Station responded to a report of a structure fire at an abandoned building in the 6400 Block of Yucca Avenue in Twentynine Palms. Prior to deputies’ arrival, the structure became fully engulfed and witnesses reported hearing explosions.

San Bernardino County Fire Department extinguished the fire before it could spread to any nearby buildings. Through investigation, deputies learned a Hispanic female was seen entering the building five minutes prior to the fire starting. Due to the circumstances surrounding the fire, an Arson Investigator with the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
