Tractor-trailer collision on I-95 results in fatality
November 16, 2017
BLYTHE, Calif – On Wednesday, November 15, at about 8:15 a.m., a 44-year-old male was traveling westbound on Interstate 10, west of Neighbors Blvd., in a 2014 Volvo tractor-trailer in the right lane at an unknown speed. For unknown reasons, he did not observe traffic ahead of him slow down and collided with the trailer pulled by the 2018 Peterbilt tractor, that was directly in front of him and driven by James Magyar (age 58 of Sun City West, Arizona).
Due to the rear-end collision to James Magyar and his 2018 Peterbilt, it thrust him forward and he collided with the rear-end of the trailer, that was being pulled by a 2012 Freightliner tractor, driven by Luis Cruz (age 60 of El Paso, Texas).
The 44-year-old driving the Volvo was pronounced deceased at the scene by Cafire paramedics as a result of the collision. James Magyar was transported to Palo Verde Hospital for some complaint of pain in his neck and back. Luis Cruz had some complaint of pain to his neck and back and chose to seek his own aid.
The cause of this collision remains under investigation by the Blythe Area CHP and alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision.
