Arrest for assault with a deadly weapon

NEEDLES, Calif – On Sunday, April 29 at 7:36 p.m., deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff - Colorado River Sheriff’s station / Needles Police responded to the 2100 block of Needles Hwy after a report of an assault.
Deputies learned a white male adult, who was known to be a transient in the area, struck the victim with a metal pipe in what was described as an unprovoked attack. The victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance. Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
On Monday, April 30 at 9:21a.m., deputies were dispatched to the corner of J and W. Broadway Streets in Needles after several citizens called 911 to report sightings of the suspect. George Davis (age 27) was found sitting on the corner holding the metal pipe. He was interviewed at the scene and arrested. Davis was booked into the Needles jail for assault with a deadly weapon and is being held on $50,000 bail.
