Dumped stolen vehicle located in a remote area

NEEDLES, Calif – On Thursday, May 31 at about 4:30 a.m., deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff - Colorado River Station/Needles Police Department began investigating a possible dumped stolen vehicle located in a remote area near an address on Manskers Lane. Throughout the investigation, it was learned that an unoccupied vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot of a nearby gas station and pushed to its current location, where several items were removed from the vehicle.
At about 9:30 a.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle leaving the remote area of the dumped stolen vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Antonie Johnson (age 47 of Needles), was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm and drug paraphernalia. Several items located within Johnson's vehicle were later confirmed to have been taken without permission from the dumped stolen vehicle.
Johnson was placed under arrest for Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Stolen Property. Johnson was transported to and booked at the Colorado River Station Jail and being held on $50,000 bail pending a court hearing.
The stolen vehicle and several stolen items were later released to the victim.
