Man’s firearms seized after shooting rifle in the air

JOSHUA TREE, Calif – On Tuesday, July 10 at about 6:30 a.m., a San Bernardino County Sheriff - Morongo Basin Station deputy responded to a residence in the 61000 block of Petunia Drive, after getting a call regarding a male who was shooting a rifle in the air.

The deputy arrived at the residence and contacted Yuan Hernandez (age 27 of Joshua Tree), who was in possession of two AK-47 assault rifles along with loaded high capacity magazines, a 12-gauge shotgun and a 9‑mm semi-automatic hand gun.

Hernandez was arrested for Negligent Discharge of a Firearm, and his weapons were seized. Hernandez was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail and is being held in lieu of $ 50,000 bail.
