Death investigation of a missing person

TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif – On Wednesday, March 13, at about 12:55 p.m., deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department - Morongo Basin Station responded to the 72000 block of Sullivan Road, after getting a report of a missing 23-year-old male resident of Twentynine Palms. Deputies learned the missing person was suicidal and possibly armed with a handgun, near the intersection of Mission Avenue and Foothill Drive in Twentynine Palms.

At approximately 5:15 p.m., deputies located the missing person in a mountainous area, south of Mission Avenue and Foothill Drive, with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. With the cooperation of the Sheriff’s Aviation and Coroner Divisions, the missing person was extradited from the location.

Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Morongo Basin Station at (760)366-4175.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
