BLYTHE, Calif – On Saturday, January 22 at 9:53 A.M. Cpl. Heriberto Cavazos and
other Blythe Police Officers responded to the area of the 300 block of S. 4th
St. regarding a robbery.
On arrival Cpl. Cavazos was told that two black males had stolen a purse from an
86 year old female as she walked home. Two witnesses in the area gave chase of
the suspects after witnessing the crime. Contact was made with the two witnesses
and told Cpl. Cavazos that the two suspects had run into a home in the 300 block
of S. Sixth St. Cpl. Cavazos went to the residence and located two black male
juveniles who matched the description of the suspects. Both were detained and
later positively identified as the suspects of the robbery by the victim and
witnesses.
The two suspects are local teens 13 and 14 years old. They were transported to
the Police Department for further investigation where one of the suspects
admitted to the crime. Both were transported to Indio Juvenile Hall where they
were booked for robbery.
The victim was not injured during the robbery and her property was recovered.
