We will be featuring cartoons by John Moran along with Marian Kamensky on the pages of The Desert Independent.
John Moran resides in the UK, has been married for 35 years and has a daughter who is a nurse. When John is not drawing, he pursues a job in online retail. John studied at the Weybridge School of Art, but decided to take a career path into electrical engineering. However, the love for drawing never left and in 1992 he contacted a sports magazine who had liked his cartoons and began to feature them regularly.
As the decade progressed this grew to a client list of 12 magazines, with one in Holland, his second language is Dutch. His clients included Rugby World & Post, Rugby News, Sainsbury's supermarket chain, The Independent Retailer, The Sporting Gun, Jogging Monthly, Inside Rugby, Scottish Rugby, Greenkeeper International, Wales Rugby International, Rugby Monthly, The Journal (a magazine of the Scottish Chamber of Commerce), Computer Weekly, The Freelance Informer, The London Borough of Islington Publicity Department and The Keystone Press of Weybridge.
Unfortunately, all cartoon drawing came to an end in 2001 due to work and family commitments. It was not until 2011 that John took up the pen again when a representative from San Diego visited his firm 4 or 5 times a year. She didnít want to drive in the UK, so John was selected to drive her wherever she needed to go, especially central London. While driving around one day she noticed some old cartoons on the back seat and picked them up and read them all. She asked if she could take copies back to the States and as a result, they started to become known in this country. John offered to draw some "American" cartoons many of which are featured in The Desert Independent.
