Arizona Man Arrested for Meth Sales After Attempting to Flee

NEEDLES, Calif – On Wednesday, December 21, at 11:00 p.m. a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop in the area of A Street and Front Street. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Andrew Whiting (age 43 of Lake Havasu City, Arizona) and after a records check it was determined that Whiting had a suspended Arizona driver’s license.

During a search, a meth pipe was found in Whiting's pocket, as deputies began to search Whiting's vehicle he fled on foot. The deputy pursued Whiting on foot and located him hiding in the backyard in the 200 block of Bazoobuth. Whiting refused to follow commands and assaulted the deputy. After a brief struggle, Whiting was taken into custody.

During a search of Whiting's vehicle, approximately 90 grams of methamphetamine was located. Deputies also located a digital scale, measuring spoons, syringes and cash in small denominations.

Whiting was transported to the Needles jail and booked for Possession of Methamphetamine for Sales and Resisting Arrest. Bail has been set at $50,000.
