Arrest after Tasing for Felony Warrants & Resisting Arrest at Tortoise Rock Casino

29 PALMS, Calif – On Thursday, May 19, at 10:20 p.m., Public Safety Officers at the Tortoise Rock Casino called Sheriff’s Dispatch to report a man known to them as Christopher Blacker was at the casino and had active warrants for his arrest. Deputies responded to the casino and confirmed through a records check that Blackler had two active felony warrants totaling $625,000.

Casino security directed deputies to the west side of the building where Blackler was playing the slot machines. There they contacted and advised him that he was under arrest for his warrants. Blackler attempted to get past deputies to flee. They tried to stop him and a struggle ensued.

Blackler was told multiple times to comply with deputies, but he continued to resist. During the struggle, Blackler’s free hand was on one of the deputy’s holstered firearm and in seeing the threat; Blackler was Tased in the back gaining his compliance. He was subsequently arrested and handcuffed without further incident. Tortoise Rock Casino Public Safety Officers assisted deputies during the incident.

Christopher Blackler (age 25 of 29 Palms) was transported to the Morongo Basin Jail and booked on his two warrants: Vehicle Code 20001 – Hit and run causing injury $300,000, and Health and Safety Code 11352(a)/11379(a) – Possession and transportation of a controlled substance for sales $325,000. Blackler was also booked on a new open charge in violation of Penal Code 69 – Resisting an executive officer in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
