September 12, 2016

NEEDLES, Calif – On Saturday, September 10, at approximately 5:24 p.m., deputies from the Needles Police and San Bernardino County Sheriff - Colorado River Station responded to the 2000 block of Flora Vista, regarding a man bleeding with an AR15 assault rifle. While reroute to the call, deputies were advised the subject may have killed a family member.

Deputies made contact with Nicholas W Bedell (age 26 of Needles) who came out of a residence bleeding, unarmed and challenging deputies to shoot him. Bedell was detained and taken into custody without incident. While deputies conducted a safety check of the residence, a juvenile was found unharmed. Deputies also located body armor and a black highpoint 45 caliber semi-automatic rifle. Further investigation determined Bedell and the victim had a verbal argument. Bedell returned to his residence to put on body armor and retrieve a firearm. Bedell engaged the victim, aiming his firearm at the victim’s chest, which caused the victim to throw a glass at Bedell and take cover within another residence.

Bedell was arrested and transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking.
