Arrest for Robbery & Assaulting a Store Clerk

29 PALMS, Calif – On Monday, June 27 at 9:25 p.m., a convenience store clerk, in the 73000 Block of Twentynine Palms Hwy, confronted Robert Watts about leaving the store with items he hadn't paid for. The confrontation escalated from a verbal exchange into a physical altercation resulting in the clerk being punched several times. Watts left the scene in a vehicle prior to law enforcement arrival.

On Tuesday, June 28, 2016, Deputies from San Bernardino County Sheriff - Station: Morongo Basin Station followed up with the victim clerk and were able to identify the suspect as Robert Watts age 23 of 29 Palms. Deputies contacted Watts and he was arrested for PC 211, Strong Arm Robbery. Watts was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
