Canine Team Seizes 28 Pounds of Meth

WELLTON, Arizona On the morning of Thursday, March 31, Wellton Station Border Patrol agents seized nearly 28 pounds of methamphetamine, valued at more than $83,000.

A canine team had alerted to a vehicle attempting to pass through the Border Patrol immigration checkpoint on Interstate 8, east of Yuma. Agents arrested the driver, a lawful permanent resident alien female.

Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents effectively combat smuggling organizations attempting to illegally transport people and contraband through southwestern Arizona and California. All persons, drugs and vehicles are processed per Yuma Sector guidelines.
