Clerk “Tased” at Dollar Tree Store

Police Seek Help Identifying Perp

May 18, 2016

BLYTHE, Calif – On Monday, May16 at about 6:00 p.m., the Blythe Police Department was dispatched to the Dollar Tree Store, located at 661 E. Hobsonway, regarding a possible robbery. When officers arrived they contacted a female store cashier who had been “Tased” by a Taser style weapon as she worked the cash register.

The cashier told investigators that a white male appearing to be under the influence had come to her register with three small items. The clerk had a difficult time understanding the male. During their conversation it appears the male became frustrated and pulled a Taser style weapon from his waistband. The suspect fired the Taser at the clerk striking her with one of the Taser projectiles. The cashier sustained minor injuries.

The male suspect then picked up his three items and walked out of the store. The suspect made no attempt to take other items or cash from the store.

Police were able to view area surveillance cameras and saw the male suspect walked eastbound towards Palm Drive and out of sight. Police obtained the attached photo of the suspect from the surveillance video.

Detective Sergeant Coe concedes the photo is very grainy, but he hopes someone might recognize the male. Sgt. Coe described the male as being in his late 20s to 40 years of age, 5’10” to 6’00” tall wearing a brown or orange ball cap, long sleeve white shirt, blue jeans, tan work boots, and sunglasses.

Anyone with information regarding this case, or any other crime, is urged to contact Blythe Police Department at 922-6111, or they can give their information anonymously by calling Crime Stop at 921-CARE (2273) or by E-Mail.
