Commercial Burglary and Conspiracy

November 20, 2016

29 PALMS, Calif – On Friday, November 18, at 8:21 a.m., deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff - Morongo Basin Station were dispatched to a commercial burglary report call in the 4900 block of Adobe Road. The victim stated that an incident in the business the day before had caused damage to the exterior of the building which made it unsecure in several areas upon closing for the day. When the victim arrived at his business the next morning he found the cash register pried open and over $1,000 in cash missing.

The victim suspected an employee of his, Anthony Smith (age 19 of Twentynine Palms), who had been employed with him for only a few months. After further investigation and interviews, it was determined Smith and a friend of his who was in town visiting from Idaho, Alberto Bravo (age 20 of Rexburg, Idaho) were involved in the burglary. Bravo was later contacted at a local motel with a mask and a large amount of cash consistent with what had been taken from the business. Both Smith and Bravo are currently on felony probation. Both Smith and Bravo were booked at the Morongo Basin Jail for burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime.
