Couple Arrested for Willful Cruelty & Failing to Provide for their 4-Month-Old Child

TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif – On Wednesday, July 20, at approximately 7:00 PM San Bernardino County Sheriff dispatch received a call for medical aid for an unresponsive 4-month old in the 6300 block of Smoke Tree. The child was transported to the Naval Hospital in Twentynine Palms, and then transferred to Loma Linda Children's Hospital where he was evaluated by Forensic Pediatricians. During the evaluation, doctors discovered he had multiple fractures, and suffered from extreme malnutrition.

On Tuesday, August 23, Alec Bailey (age 20) and Autumn Evers (age 24) both of 29 Palms, who were responsible for the child's care, were arrested for Penal Code 273(A), Willful Cruelty to a Child and Penal Code 270, Failure to Provide, and booked at the Morongo Valley Jail. They are being held on $100,000 bail and scheduled for arraignment on August 25 at the Morongo Basin Superior Court. The child is currently in the care of Children and Family Services.
