DUI Caught by Parking in Front of Police Station

October 11, 2016

BLYTHE, Calif – On Monday, October 10, at 11:00 a.m., Blythe Police Sergeant T. Morrison was returning to the Police Department located at 240 N. Spring Street. As Sgt. Morrison approached the police department’s driveway he noticed a vehicle stopped in the middle of Spring Street. Sgt. Morrison pulled his marked Blythe Police car in behind the vehicle but it did not move from the roadway. After some time passed Sgt. Morrison “chirped” the siren. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as 51 year old Taunya Quinn Marlowe of Blythe, accelerated quickly, running the stop sign at Spring St. and Barnard.

Sgt. Morrison activated his emergency lights and siren in an attempt to stop Marlowe for running the stop sign but she accelerated to 60 MPH on the surface streets. Marlowe ran several more stop signs and a red light, eventually stopping on her own in the 600 block of Vista Sunrise.

Marlowe was evaluated and eventually arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and for felony evading. The vehicle she was driving was stored.

No injuries or vehicles were damaged during this pursuit.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Anyone with information regarding this case, or any other crime, is urged to contact Blythe Police Department at 922-6111, or they can give their information anonymously by calling Crime Stop at 921-CARE (2273) or by E-Mail.
