Fight with Woman leads to Attempted Murder Charges

NEEDLES, Calif – On October 29 at approximately 11:00 a.m., deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff - Colorado River Station, responded to an unknown problem at the 4400 block of Needles Hwy. Charles Garecht (age 72 of Needles) and a woman were involved in a physical altercation.

The woman was able to get away and run to her vehicle. As she tried to drive away Garecht told her if she left he would kill her. Garecht retrieved a weapon and shot at the driver's side of the woman’s vehicle.

Later, deputies arrived at Garecht’s residence and were able to talk Garecht out. Garecht was then arrested without incident and booked at the Colorado River Station Jail for PC 664/187 Attempted Murder.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
