Human Bones Found in Desert Off I-40

NEEDLES, Calif – On Friday, March 25, at 3:48 p.m. deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Needles Station responded to a call regarding bones in the desert near Interstate 40 and Essex Road near Fenner. Upon arrival, deputies met with a surveyor, the reporting party. The surveyor led deputies to the location of the bones.

Several bones were then collected by the Coroner's Division of San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

On Saturday, March 26, the bones were identified as human. Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail assumed the investigation and responded to the scene where the bones were found. Homicide investigators conducted an investigation and located additional bones which were again collected by the Coroner's Division.
