Imperial County Board of Supervisors Modify Regular Board Meeting Times

January 30, 2016

IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif – In an effort to encourage civic engagement and increase public participation at future board meetings, the Imperial County Board of Supervisors’ have modified the board meeting time and format for the remainder of the year. Beginning, February 2, 2016, the Board of Supervisors’ meetings will now convene open session at 9:00 a.m.

“After receiving comments from the public who expressed their concerns with having to wait until after agenda items and reports were discussed to provide their input to the Board, we are making these changes to the schedule in an attempt to facilitate the public’s participation in County government business,” stated Chairman Jack Terrazas, District 2 Supervisor.

The Board meetings will continue to occur on Tuesday mornings. The Board will immediately go to closed session after the meetings are called to order at 8:00 a.m. and are scheduled to reconvene the public portion of their meetings at 9:00 a.m.

In addition to the change of time for open session, “Public Comment” is now scheduled for 9:30 a.m. The scheduled time for “Public Comment” has been moved to accommodate public input at future board meetings before any board action or discussion occurs on an item on the agenda. “Public Comment” is an opportunity for members of the public to address the Board on any subject matter within the Board’s jurisdiction, but not an item on the agenda.
