Light Pole Hit & Run

October 25, 2016

BLYTHE, Calif Shortly after 2:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, October 23, the Blythe Police Department received a 911 call reporting a blue pickup that had just hit a light pole at Hobsonway and Intake Blvd. When Officers arrived they discovered the driver had fled the scene.

The truck, a 2008 Chevy Colorado registered in Texas, sustained major damage to its front end after hitting a Southern California Edison light pole. The pole was sheared off and came to rest on the pickup.

During the investigation Officers found evidence indicating the driver of the vehicle was a local Blythe resident. Officers attempted to contact the suspected driver at his residence but he had not returned home.

Southern California Edison responded to the scene and removed the pole from the pickup, which was then stored at Blythe Freeway Towing.

The cause of the accident is under investigation; however, alcohol is believed to be a factor.
