House Was Uninhabitable

June 28, 2016

29 PALMS, Calif – On Saturday, June 25 at 8:25 PM, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff - Morongo Basin Station conducted a traffic stop near Hatch and Morongo Road. Deputies contacted the driver, Arsenio Jones, and passenger, Brandon Brown. A records check revealed Jones is on Felony Probation for a narcotics offense and was driving on a suspended driver license. Brown was found to have an active warrant for his arrest.

Arsenio Jones (age 26) and Brandon Brown (age 31) both of 29 Palms, were arrested and taken to the 72600 Block of Foothill to conduct a probation search of Jones' residence.

There, deputies contacted Danielle Reid (age 31 of 29 Palms) and her seven children at the house. The conditions at the house were uninhabitable. There was virtually no food in the residence and water covered the floors from blocked plumbing. What appeared to be animal feces were on the bedroom floor where everyone slept. Trash was strewn all over and large rats ran around the garage and cockroaches infested several parts of the house.

Jones and Reid were arrested for violation of Penal Code 273(A) a, Felony Child Neglect and booked into the Morongo Jail. Jones is being held without bail and Reid is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail. Brown was arrested, booked into the Morongo Jail and is being held on $25,000 bail.

The department of Children’s and Family Services were contacted and took custody of all seven juveniles.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
