Strong Arm Robbery

May 26, 2016

JOSHUA TREE, Calif – On Tuesday, May 24, at 8:11 PM, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff Morongo Basin Station responded to an unknown problem at Mike’s Liquor on Twentynine Palms Hwy in downtown Joshua Tree.

When deputies arrived, they contacted the business owner who informed them that a white male adult came into the business and purchased a pack of cigarettes. As the man was walking out of the business, the business owner noticed that he had two cans of beer in his front pant pockets that he did not pay for.

The owner confronted the subject outside in front of the business and took the beers from him. The subject raised his arm and clenched his fist as though he was going to punch the victim in the face and fearing for their safety backed away from the suspect. When the victim was calling the Sheriff’s Department, the suspect walked towards the victim and again raised his arm and clenched his fist as though he was going to punch the victim, but then fled the business in a vehicle.

The victim located a patron who witnessed the incident and deputies were directed to the location, an address on the 61600 block of Capilla Drive in Joshua Tree, where he made contact with a white male adult matching the suspect’s description identified as Randall Piearcy.

Piearcy (age 30 of Joshua Tree) was found to be on active state parole for Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He was positively identified as the suspect by the business owner and arrested for Penal Code 211 – Strong Arm Robbery and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail. State Parole was contacted and a no bail parole violation was placed on Piearcy.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
