Two Women Arrested at I-40 Inspection Station

NEEDLES, Calif – On Friday, September 2 at about 9:45 p.m. Sheriff's Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff - Colorado River Station conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the California Department of Agriculture inspection station on the I‑40 it entered California.

The Deputy contacted Mariela Rico (age 21) and Candelaria Reyes (age 39) both of Santa Maria), who were driving the car without a driver's license. Reyes had an outstanding warrant for a grand theft arrest.

In the car deputies found an ounce of methamphetamine in multiple packages. Both females were arrested for transportation of a controlled substance into the state of California and booked at the Colorado River Station Jail in Needles. Their bail was set at $150,000 each. Reyes was also booked on a grand theft warrant out of Santa Barbara County. The bail on the warrant was set at $20,000.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
