Rape arrest after one-and-a-half years in a relationship with a minor

TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif – In September 2018, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department - Morongo Basin Station received information regarding James Schutte being responsible for several counts of rape of a minor. During a lengthy investigation, detectives discovered Schutte (age 28 of Twentynine Palms) had been in a relationship with a 14-year-old female for approximately one and a half years.

During the relationship Schutte physically assaulted and raped the victim repeatedly.

On Thursday, May 9, Schutte was located at a residence near the 6300 block of Isleta Drive, Twentynine Palms. Inside the residence a large quantity of cocaine packaged for sales was found. Schutte was arrested and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail for rape of a minor and possession of narcotics for sales.

Persons charged with a crime are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
